Cavalor WholeGain – complementary feed for horses – is an energy-rich feed concentrate for sport horses and breeding. It is based on extensive scientific research which has shown that the addition of specific fatty acids to the daily feed ration, such as omega 3 and omega 6, produces exceptionally good results. This leads to an optimal energy balance, which in turn contributes to uniform growth and increasingly good physical condition. This is manifested, for example, by an overall improvement in condition and greater staying power (due to a “glyco-sparing effect”), a shiny coat, better feed conversion (more energy out of fewer kilos of feed), less transpiration and a marked decrease in muscle stiffness and liver and digestive problems. Cavalor WholeGain is mainly used prior to competition in eventing, racing and endurance and for an optimal condition of sales horses. Cavalor WholeGain is also used during critical periods in breeding and rearing of horses. At these times, energy needs are high, especially for the broodmare in early lactation. Cavalor WholeGain can be safely given to foals with “Meconium elimination problems”. The foals gain more weight during the first week and have a higher feed conversion. Cavalor WholeGain may positively influence the mare’s milk production with regards to quality and composition.
Cavalor WholeGain contains: vitamin A, D3, K3, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, E, C, folic acid, choline, biotin; trace elements such as copper and macro minerals such as calcium and phosphorus. Cavalor WholeGain has twice the energy value and contains eight times more oil (specific fatty acid formulation) than conventional horse feeds (without making the horse too hot). This feed is suitable for performance horses and lactating mares, which have a higher energy requirement. Cavalor WholeGain contains easily digestible ingredients processed from grains, seeds and vegetable oils. Cavalor WholeGain is given in combination with normal cereals and feed concentrates.
Why was Cavalor WholeGain created? Horse owners have been asking for a high fat product to help add weight safely without the fillers or cheap oils found in other products. We also added pre & probiotics and enzymes to help maximize digestion in the small and large intestines.
High quality ingredients: Cavalor believes that the quality of a product goes beyond the guaranteed analysis. This is why we use a blend of high quality, whole-food oil sources such as flaxseeds and rice bran along with our signature puffed grains to create a nutritionally-balanced, high fat mixture. We refuse to rely on generic vegetable oils.
OMEGA 3’S & OMEGA 6’S: Both omega fatty acids are types of unsaturated fats and are crucial for general well-being and health. It is important, though, that horses receive the proper ratio of omega 3’s and omega 6’s to ensure good coat quality, proper immune function, and improve performance. Forages such as high quality hay and grass are naturally high in omega 3 fatty acids and very low in omega 6 fatty acids. In contrast, grains are high in omega 6 fatty acids. When this ratio is off, it can lead to issues involving the skin, heart, and athletic recovery. By using oils with a relatively high omega 3:6 ratio, such as flaxseeds, linseeds, rapeseed and soya, Cavalor creates a product that helps keep your horse healthy and shiny from the inside out.
Will my horse get more excitable with this kind of energy? No. This product has repeatedly proven to be very effective for dressage horses. It provides the energy without temper increases. In general, the high energy density of fat may, under certain circumstances, be beneficial as less bulky feed is required to the horse with its energy. It has also been indirectly observed that some horses may experience some behaviour changes (less excitable). If behavioral changes are observed, an increased fat content may be considered to help reduce the risk of the horse becoming too hot (e.g. thoroughbred horses).
Will my horse put on more weight due to the addition of fat to its daily ration? When Cavalor WholeGain is used according to directions, the amount of energy administered of the total ration will remain similar. However, the energy is now supplied in a more condensed form. Further, the type of energy provided by Cavalor WholeGain may be beneficial for horses that perform long-duration-low-intensity exercises (endurance). It may also favor the horse’s thermoregulation. The rice bran in the formula may contribute to weight gain.
